A new performance, as part of the "after SCULPTURE/SCULPTURE after" project, will take place on Friday, June 30th, and Sunday, July 2nd, starting at 7 PM in the exhibition space on the ground floor of Cazarma U, performed by Ukrainian artists Maria Leonenko and Anna Potyomkina, as part of the captivating exhibition SPARKS IN THE DARK.
‘How not to get vague in the blackout’
The complete and periodic lack of electricity during blackouts in all cities of Ukraine meant not only the reconfiguration of usual daily practices, work schedules and communicating means, but also the level of access to information as a basic need.
‘How not to get vague in the blackout’ is a situation of joint action with the audience under the condition of limited light. What sparks of light reveal and what remains in the dark form a story that we are able to capture and explain for ourselves, as well as a dance that has taken place for us personally.
How can darkness move us? Can we apply the darkness and find alternative solutions for obtaining information? What new practices arise in the absence of information and light? And, most importantly, how do we stay awake in the darkness?
