”Magical Landscapes” gathers artworks from the artist inspired by the city of Timișoara in a solo exhibition.
”The 'Magical Landscapes' project is a continuation of a broad creative endeavor that has been ongoing for the past 9 years and is part of my doctoral research 'Nature and the Imaginary in Painting'.
The works in the exhibition are based on photographic documentation of plants found in the most common places in Timișoara: in public squares, parks, behind fences of enclosed gardens, in more secluded areas along the Bega River, etc. Subsequently, the plants were enlarged and reimagined, creating an entire universe populated by people of Lilliputian dimensions. This fabulous vegetal microcosm attempts to show another face of the city.
The hyperbolized plants outline an almost magical universe. Discreetly inserted into the realistic landscape, details with fictitious elements satisfy my inner need for the bizarre and unknown. In my vision, painting encourages us to create new worlds in order to better understand the reality around us."
This artistic creation was produced with the support of an Energie! Creative Grant awarded by the Municipality of Timișoara, through the Center for Projects, within the Power Station component of the National Cultural Programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in the year 2023".
