European Film Festival is a project started in 1996, at the initiative Delegation of the European Commission in Romania, in order to celebrate Europe’s Day, on 9th of May. After 2007, when Romania joined the European Union, the Festival was taken over by a Romanian institution, the Romanian Cultural Institute, which organized it every year since then, the 2023 edition of the Festival being a celebratory one, the 27th.
The European Film Festival has been a celebration of European movies in Romania for the last 27 years, showcasing award-winning films from across Europe, promoting diversity, engaging in cultural dialogues and reflecting the excellence of the European cinema.
These continue to challenge the limitation of our imagination with artistic storytelling, dramatic scenery and excellent actors.
The European Film Festival is organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute, with the support of the European Commission Representation in Romania, EUNIC Romania and UCIN, in cooperation with the European embassies, cultural institutes and centers.
