ARChA, the new flagship space of the Faculty of Architecture and Urban planning within the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, was born in 2023, from the convergence of several visions on the development and recovery of the built heritage belonging to the UPT Campus. Built at the end of the 1920s, under the baton of the prestigious architect Duiliu Marcu, Cantina 2 MV, was, together with the Faculty of Mechanics building and the 1 MV dormitory, part of the most representative and coherent ensemble of the campus. By recovering and transforming the old canteen, ARChA adds a new chapter to the 100-year history of the campus and clearly captures the new philosophy of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning in Timișoara, defining itself as the epicenter of the meeting between the university and the city's creative classes. ARChA is a place programmatically dedicated to intersections of any kind between architecture, art and technology.
