Dracula TiMes proposes a different approach to Dracula’s myth which was rather a pretext for kitsch tourist traps and as consequence a real industry was built on the fascination for the cinematic, but also historical, character of Dracula. The festival’s goal is to present the character of Dracula, deconstructing myths and fakes, presenting the context and historical facts related to Dracula.
For five days, young people, both from Timișoara and tourists, from Romanian or abroad, are invited to attend screenings of different genres, from fantasy to horror, documentaries, experimental, author, feature films and European short films from the selection of the Dracula Fantasy Film Festival in Brașov, Sombra Film Festival from Spain (Murcia) and Dublin International Short Film and Music Festival. Additionally, the project will feature a couple of national premiere film screenings, a cine-concert live score by Bosco (Spain) of the film Inferno, a Postmodern Gothic Art digital art exhibition by the Italian artist Giorgio Finamore, workshops, and conferences.
The project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded through the European Echoes Timișoara 2023 programme, implemented by the Center for Projects Timișoara, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
