Lights On Bega is more than a cultural and artistic event – it is an invitation to reflect, take action and change our attitude towards the environment. At the center of this event shines the Floating Earth installation, the remarkable creation of the famous British artist Luke Jerram, which represents the Earth in amazing size and detail and invites viewers to meditate on the fragility and splendor of our planet.
The adjacent Lights On Bega events literally revolve around the Floating Earth installation. We have sound experiences at dusk, true emotional journeys where we will feel our deep connection with the entire Universe and think about the ways in which we can help protect nature. Afterwards, we leave ourselves in the hands of the tour guides and take a walk that will give us the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with both Luke Jerram’s artistic message and his concerns regarding the rapid degradation of the environment.
The project is part of the national cultural Programme “Timișoara - European Capital of Culture 2023” and is funded through the BEGA programme, carried out by the Cultural and Art Center of Timiș County, with funds allocated from the state budget through the Ministry of Culture.
