As part of the Spotlight Heritage Timișoara, Politehnica University of Timișoara a 3D video installation Bega Echoes and a VR app Bega River Heritage, that reflects the historical heritage, the natural habitat of the Bega River. With technology related to mapping and capturing of anthropocentric monuments and sites, Norwegian artist Ingrid Bjørnaali and Romanian artist Marius Jurca have attempted to capture the Bega river upclose, and bring the frozen-in-time 3D scans back to life through animation of the resulting virtual landscape.
Participants will have the opportunity to discover people's stories, information about the biosphere around the Bega Canal using state-of-the-art digital technologies, as well as the poems of the poet Robert Șerban in the VR app, created by the UPT students in Bega River Heritage.
This project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in the year 2023" and is funded by the City of Timișoara, through the Center for Projects.
