Akira Kawasaki is a young artist, musician and film director. He grew up in Fukuoka, Japan and in Santa Monica, United States. After graduating from Musashino Art University in Tokyo, he moved to Berlin where he lives and studies.
Her project Uni-form is an ongoing artistic research that examines school uniform through the lens of strict Japanese dress codes, reinforced by 風紀方总, or "moral inspection."
These outfits turn male students, but especially female students, into icons of popular culture and are also a good starting point for explaining the public's apathy towards politics, patriarchy, misogyny, nationalism, racism, classism, anti-queerness and the list goes on.
