«BIGGER PICTURE»
The starting point of this joint investigation is scientific imaging methods used to visualize the micro- and nanostructure of materials. Using these methods, the project will collect and translate data with the intention of building hypothetical 3D material models through parametric computer-aided design. The goal of the collaboration is to use the artistic design process to reveal and translate digital structures through various media.

«PAINTING WITH LIGHT: THE DARKROOM OF NATURE»
The project explores connections and synergies between nanoscience and photography. The goal is to develop new methods of drawing with light using mechano-responsive molecules which become fluorescent when activated by force. The tandem partners will work closely and combine their knowledge of light, optical signals and mechanical processes in both photography and nanoscience.

«MATERIAL CHANGES»
The project proposes to question the term and usage of “sustainability” through a transdisciplinary dialogue between the arts and science. The dialogue will revolve around concepts such as technology vs. nature; value-added recycling and reuse, and nanostructures in natural and artificial materials, amongst others. The tandem is creating objects to document their dialogue, using different artificial materials.

How can artist-scientist collaboration be of value to science and technology organizations?
With extensive experience collaborating with and advising institutions to develop artist-in-residency programmes, Claudia Schnugg highlights how art-science collaboration is such a powerful opportunity for forward-thinking consultants, managers and institutions. Using real-life examples and the possibilities alongside cutting-edge research, this talk presents a number of cases where these interactions have fostered creativity and led to heightened innovation and value for organizations. As well as creating a blueprint for successful partnerships it provides insights into the managerial and practical issues when creating art-science programs. The scholars and practitioners who are interested in the potential of art-science collaborations will find out how to take an innovative approach to creativity in their organization or research, and the ways in which art-science collaborations can mutually benefit artists, scientists and companies alike.

ROMANIAN SCIENCE FESTIVAL
Romanian Science Festival is an initiative which involves Romanian researchers and students from the academic diaspora in the Romanian education system with the aim of attracting students to scientific disciplines. Since its launch in 2019, the Romanian Science Festival has brought science to over 150 schools in Romania and reached over 150,000 school-aged children.
In 2022, the Romanian Science Festival was awarded in Berlin by the Falling Wall Foundation in the Science Engagement category, the initiative being declared winner out of more than 1350 projects promoting STEM disciplines globally.
