Adrian Newell's archive – queer history excerpts

The archive brings awareness to the Timișoara audience towards the gay mass media as a form of expression and existence, in a socio-politic context in which homosexuality  was prohibited by the Penal Code. The written press was – in its glory days - the main vehicle to transmit information - from personal ads to stories with and about homosexuals from Romania. By making a leap in time, the mass media of the ’90s – for the viewer of today – it is a cultural and historic instrument that allows for a graphic display of the LGBTQ+ history, and highlighting ample (intimate) views from the life of the people “prohibited by law”. The exhibition presents a part of Adrian Newell Păun’s personal archive and will open in the presence of Adrian Newell Păun, Vlad Levente Viski (MozaiQ) and Adrian Oncu.
