We will do a workshop on cauldron cooking over a wood fire. We will tell about the first recipes of comfort food from Europe and how they came to us.
We will prepare a Szekely Gulyas from a cookbook from 1940, published in Timisoara. We will gladly serve everything we prepare and hope to get lots of "Thanks for the meal". And because "if it's not sarmale, it's nothing", sarmale have slowly become Euro-sarmale: with them we legitimize our identity, tell our story, take pride and take them with us everywhere. With words of the poet, in Romania and in Europe, it really "smells like sarmale over the Carpathian Mountains".
The project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded through the Grow Timișoara 2023 programme, implemented by the Center for Projects Timișoara, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
