The Rotary Club of Timișoara was founded in 1929, shortly after the first Rotary Club in Romania and less than a quarter of a century after the foundation of the first Rotary Club in the world.
Although it only functioned until 1940, when it was banned by the political regime in place at the time, the Rotary Club of Timișoara was very active, carrying out projects such as the construction of a hut at Muntele Mic and the publication of a tourist guide to Banat.
In 1994, the Rotary Club Timișoara was re-established, with initiators from France and members from Timișoara. The club grew in members and carried out numerous humanitarian and social projects in the community. It became one of the largest clubs in District D2241 Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
Over the years, the club has invested more than 3 million euros in social projects through members' contributions but also by attracting funds from abroad, namely joint projects with clubs in several countries.
