The Museum of Communism Horrors in Romania is a young institution whose purpose is to preserve, exhibit and analyze Romania's recent history. The museification of communism is the main undertaking for our institution and we are working with research partners from the public and private sphere both within a national and international environment. The creation of exhibitions, the organization of conferences, the collection of heritage resources, the preservation of memory through interviews, represent the main lines of action for MOCR. The museum represents a challenge to know the past, to investigate it in conservative ways combined with a non-formal style of approach. Thus, the projects resulting from the combination of the two styles determine the generation of actions that combine new media and technologies with the methodological approach of museum pedagogy. Our institution has created a museum discourse consisting in spontaneous and itinerant exhibitions through which it approaches the public directly. Our actions aim to transform the viewer, the passer-by into a visitor or even a direct participant within the museum installations. From 2021 until now, we have initiated hybrid projects that combine classic museography with new technologies: interactive street installations, immersive exhibitions with a participatory theatrical component, and above all we have opted for the use of digital elements in the interaction with the public.
