HEI - House of European Institutes

HEI - House of European Institutes is a new multicultural centre located in Timisoara, in Gallery 1 of Theresia Bastion, Hector Street.

The mission of the #HEI cultural centre is to complement the European dimension in "Timisoara - European Capital of Culture 2023" through a curatorial programme of socially engaged art reflecting themes such as diversity, sustainability, equality, human rights.

From June to December 2023, the themes proposed by HEI - House of European Institutes are represented in activities covering the fields of history, crafts, illustration, new media, architecture, photography, performance. They are accompanied by themed exhibitions on European moments and personalities and community parties aimed at bringing together local communities.

Access to all HEI - House of European Institutes public events will be free and open to all members of the city's community, regardless of age, ability, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

HEI - House of European Institutes is a project coordinated by the Goethe-Institut Bucharest and the German Cultural Centre in Timișoara, together with the Network of EUNIC Romania - European Union National Institutes for Culture: Austrian Cultural Forum, Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Romania, Czech Centre Bucharest, French Institute of Romania, Embassy of Georgia in Romania, Greek Cultural Foundation, Italian Institute of Culture, British Council Romania, Embassy of the Netherlands on behalf of SICA, Polish Institute in Bucharest, Camões Institute, Romanian Cultural Institute, Embassy of Spain, Cervantes Institute, Embassy of Sweden in Bucharest, Turkish Institute "Yunus Emre" and Liszt Institute - Hungarian Cultural Centre Bucharest.

The project is part of the national cultural program "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is financed through the European Echoes program, run by the Center for Projects of the Municipality of Timișoara, with amounts allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture. It is organized in partnership with the Municipality of Timisoara through the Center for Projects.
