The work of Constantin Brâncuși dramatically altered the way that artists use objects to convey not just beauty but the very soul of form. On Friday, August 18, starting 6:30 PM, professor and Fulbright Laura West will share stories of Brâncuși’s powerful journey through life and how his work, rooted by his youth in his Romania, was to become a bellwether forecasting the entire direction of post-modern art.
Professor West will also share how Brâncuși passages in form influenced her own sculptural work and research as well how making a pilgrimage to Brâncuși’s home and living here in Romania has given her another layer of insight into both his monumental accomplishments and inspiring her own explorations of capturing the soul of the objects she creates.
The project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded through the Inside Timișoara 2023 programme, implemented by the Center for Projects Timișoara, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
