Benefiting from nature's special acoustics, Peștera Românești was, for the first time, the host of a concert in 1984, the year in which Cercul Speotimis organized the 12th Republican Speosport. The first concert in Peștera Românești was an inaugural symphonic concert of Speosport on 11.10.1984. The success enjoyed by this first concert made the event repeat itself, once again, and then again and again, slowly becoming a well-known custom that every year there is at least one concert in the Românești Cave.
Since 1999, the Timișoara Academic Cultural Foundation has taken over the organization and financing of the concerts in Peștera Românești, this unique event in Romania, but also in the world. In the last 10 editions, the participation numerically exceeded the expectations of the organizers, the number of the audience exceeding 3000 spectators per performance. The Royal Danish Orchestra, the Sabin Drăgoi Choir, the Szeged Symphony Orchestra (Hungary), the Brass Quintet (Vienna), the Banat Philharmonic Orchestra, the Arad Philharmonic Orchestra, the Romanian National Opera Timisoara, a group of dancers and the Timisoara Garrison Brass Band, famous soloists and conductors from countries such as Great Britain or Switzerland are among those who participated and delighted the music lovers in Peștera Românești.
This year, the concert in Peștera Românești is part of the Bidbook of the Timișoara European Capital of Culture 2023 National Program, with the decision to double and diversify the organized events.
