The central element of this project is the realization of a true festival of historical reconstruction and preservation of traditions. As part of this cultural-historical Festival, we will enjoy three distinct chronological periods in the history of Timișoara and Timiș county, marked by strong personalities - Filippo Scolari, a Florentine knight, who brought to Timișoara the culture and values of the Western Renaissance; Iancu de Hunedoara, considered the most skilled Christian military commander of the 15th century; Paul Chinezul, who really terrified the Ottomans; respectively of the last Christian commander of the old Timișoara, Ștefan Losonczy, the one who gave his life at the head of his troops for the defense of the fortress.
The event, which will take place on September 22-24, 2023, represents a real journey into ancient times, a vision of authentic life in the past, with artisans, live medieval music, medieval dances, medieval camp kitchen, but also military camps and battles. The program will also include the parade of the keepers of traditions, presentations of weapons and outfits, the parade of jugglers with flags, the knights' tournament, battle scenes from each evoked period, mystical shows with fire and pyrotechnic theater, archery competition, a show that will evoke the siege of Timișoara from 1552, musical concerts.
The project is part of the national cultural program "Timișoara - European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is financed by the LightFest+ program, run by the Center for Culture and Art of Timiș County, with amounts allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
