How can timeless heritage serve as a sustainable foundation for the development of tomorrow? This is the exploration theme proposed this year by the Cultural Mediation Forum, an extraordinary gathering dedicated to cultural operators and educators from across the country. The forum promises to be a sharing and learning experience, bringing together individuals passionate about preserving our cultural legacies and fostering connections between generations.
Cultural mediation in relation to heritage is a form of interpretation, a means to translate past intentions and decisions into contemporary and accessible language. It provides us with a profound understanding of how communities, identities, and collective mentality have been shaped. It helps us discover ourselves and connect with the human essence, regardless of the generation we belong to. Cultural mediation of heritage can be a social bond, and promoting these practices can positively influence the future we create for ourselves.
As we delve into the potential of timeless heritage for cultural mediation, the Forum aim is clear: to enhance community spirit, deepen appreciation for cultural heritage, and explore the intersections that lie at the heart of our shared past and our sustainable, inclusive future.
The Forum is organized by Cluj Cultural Centre in partnership with Center for Projects/ Centrul de proiecte Timișoara and proposes a diverse program which stimulates dialogue and inspires innovation and allows access to a national audience to participate in the conferences, through live streaming.
Join us online and in Timișoara for a remarkable series of conferences, open discussions, workshops, and expert presentations, as we embark on a journey to understand the role which a robust and active culture can play in a community, enhanced by specific cultural mediation activities.
We’ll tackle subjects such as:
- How can we create contexts for consolidating common values between generations and ways of approach for the young generation connection with timeless heritage
- Who owns the timeless heritage? Who are the institutions and entities which promote public access to heritage ?
- What are the resources we can approach in cultural mediation activities related to timeless heritage
- Which are the risks connected with not having a cultural mediation activity, with losing the identity and the community memory?
Participating in the Forum is free of charge, but it requires registration
