As part of the DINAM contemporary dance season, the audio-video performative installation "Drum'n'Basme" is made by DJ George Allen and VJ Cristian Văduva. This will be followed by a sound mixing workshop that everyone can participate in.
At the base of the installation "Drum'n'Basme" is the concept of a fairy tale, as a factor of cohesion between generations. On November 4, 2023, at FITT Timișoara, the artistic team will recreate the experience of a fairy tale, through vintage means (vinyl records played with the help of the pick-up and live narration) and contemporary means (sound processing software, video projections, light design). The unique aspect of this project is the merging of stories recorded on vinyl records with electronic music genres, such as: boom bap/instrumental beats/lo-fi/downtempo/trip hop/ethnic electronica/world music, thus shaping a dialogue between different time periods and generations of people. The audio-video performative installation will start at 19:00, and its duration is approx. 60 minutes.
Each performance of the installation is followed by a mixing workshop, facilitated by George Allen. He will support providing some introductory notions in the field of sound mixing, explaining the process of working on the installation and providing elementary techniques for processing and harmonizing sound. Participants will have the opportunity to use the equipment used in the installation under the supervision of George Allen. The duration of the workshop is 1 hour and 30 minutes and it will start at 20:00.
The audio-video performative installation "Drum'n'Basme" and the sound mixing workshop are part of the third edition of the DINAM contemporary dance season. It aims to develop new audiences for the field of modern dance and to lay the foundations for a permanent cultural offer for audiences consuming contemporary dance performances and related events through 10 contemporary dance performances, 3 dance film screenings, 10 workshops for professionals (contemporary dance), 10 Q&A sessions and interviews with guest artists, 4 sound mixing workshops and 4 performances of the audio-video performative installation.
Project realized with the support of the Timiș County Youth Foundation and the Bucharest National Dance Center.
