The video instalation Women at Work - Crossroads, Rhythms and Continuities created by the artists Simona Deaconescu (RO) and Flor Firvida Martin (ARG/MEX) is the last event of FAPT 2023.
The opening in the presence of the artists & a lecture performance will take place on Thursday, 2nd of November, 18:00h, at HEI-House of European Institutes | Maria Theresia Bastion.
Women at Work - Crossroads, Rhythms and Continuities brings together stories, professions and movements of women from Mexico and Romania who work in professions where their bodies are their primary source of income. Through a series of interviews conducted in both countries, with the participation of 11 women: Maria, Candelaria, Geta, Cassandra, Petra, Larisa, Elvira, America, Billie Rose, Nina, Gabi, "Women at Work" shares a convergence of experiences, bodies, times and spatiality.
A twerk dancer and social worker, a sculptor, a professional basketball player, a performance and rope typing artist, a healer and doula, a wrestler of free fighting, a transgender seamstress and cook, a sex worker, an advocate for the rights of visually impaired individuals, a factory glassworker, and a professional pole dancer and contemporary dancer are all part of this intricate tapestry.
"How much do you earn? How much would you like to earn? What is it like to do your job as a woman? What is it like to do it in your city? Would you like to do something else? How do you feel in your body when you perform it?"
