“My waltzes are gone" - Frau Emma from Gottlob. Music is her greatest passion. She loves the Swabian songs she learned in childhood and the romances she danced in her youth, which, she tells us, best express her love for life. Music has helped her overcome the deportations she has witnessed.
In 1945, the Russians came. They had arrested almost 200 Germans, including her father, and sent them far away to the coal mines in Russia. Ten years later, another 300 Germans were taken to the Baragan Plain.
This is just one of the stories that REMIX ID has recovered in its many journeys through Timisoara and Timis County, and through which contemporary artists involved in the project (sound artists, visual artists, performers, etc.) remix them to rebuild the "identity book of Timisoara" in a current, vibrant and dynamic note that speaks to the next generation.
This year, the project team presents to the public the result of 5 years of documentation, artistic production and educational programs through the captivating and experiential Ethnic Love Mix 12 (upgraded), an immersive show, an unusual souvenir box and a summer school dedicated to REMIX ID pedagogy.
