Inspired by the artistic and pedagogical practice of Mircea Nicolae, the workshops led by Laura Borotea and Gabriel Boldiș with pupils from the Jean Luis Calderon High-School in Timișoara explored three main directions: the significance of the city’s spaces of transition, the active relationship with the city through personal messages inscribed in the public space, as well as the creative use of found objects.
The publication presents all the stages of the Mircea Nicolae’s trajectory, analyzing his artistic output while looking closely at his work process which relied on an extensive research practice, covering multiple disciplines. A consistent part of the publication looks at his projects in connection with a selection of unpublished texts that provide insights into the conceptual, as well as the personal and effective mechanisms structuring Mircea Nicolae’s art and thought.
The event will end with a roundtable discussion, gathering the editors of the book and the workshops’ tutors.
The project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded through the Inside Timișoara 2023 programme, implemented by the Center for Projects Timișoara, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.
Organised in partnership with the Municipality of Timișoara through the Project Centre.
